Top 5 Reasons to Buy a Honda Civic SI
A Solid Performer at an Affordable Pricepoint
The Honda Civic Si sits above all other all other Civic trims with a robust performance powertrain at an affordable price point. Nope, it’s not Type R grade by any stretch, but the turbocharged engine, six speed manual gearbox and finely tuned suspensions ensues plenty of enthusiasm as there is in practicality. Here are the top 5 reasons why you should get one.
1. Affordability and Practicality
Sure, the Honda Civic Si only packs 200 horsepower while other players in the market are pushing out 240 horsepower with the Volkswagen Golf GTI and 275 HP on the Hyundai Elantra N, but neither beats the Honda Civic Si’s attractive starting price in the sub $30k. We especially liked the robust interior and overall build quality. At the sub $30k price point, It’s a great bang for the buck that offers plenty of practicality and tons of smiles.
2. Road Enjoyment and Driver’s Engagement
The Honda Civic Si packs a 1.5L turbocharged inline four cylinder engine that pushes out peppy 200 horsepower in front-wheel drive. Reviewing our test drive notes also points out a solid-feeling 6-speed manual shifter and sharp steering and handling that gave high sense of road authority and driver-engagement. Despite a smaller engine, the exhaust tone wasn’t too bad either with its rev-happy engine.
3. Fuel Economy
It’s hard to find a car that can deliver thrills while lowering your costs at the gas pumps nowadays, but thanks to the Honda Civic Si does an exceptional job in this category. The performance-oriented Honda Civic Si scores an EPA rating of 27 mpg in the city and up to 37 mpg on the highway. Our mixed city and highway driving came in at around 32 mpg, which is very respectable. So don’t worry too much about putting down some weights at the gas pedals – the engine is fairly efficient.
4. Robust and Comprehensive Interior
Auto-sport enthusiasts will be pleased with the exclusive interior of the Honda Civic Si featuring enhanced bolstering, exclusive Si Logo stitched into the headrest and red stitching. Another cool feature exclusive Si was the LED engine RPM indicator that added an element of racing intellect. One of our key favorite features of the interior was certainly the heavy-duty aluminum shift knob with a great mechanical tactile feel for enhanced road engagement.
5. Standard Features
Plenty of perks makes its way into the Honda Civic with a bag of standard features. These include a larger 9.0″ infotainment touchscreen with integrated Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as well as an awesome 12-speaker Bose audio sound system. The performance-oriented powertrain even comes with a limited-slip differential for enhanced road handling and performance. All of the above in a sub $30k price point is a definite bargain in the limited, but competitive sports category.
The Honda Civic Si is also available in a 2-door Coupe package for sportier looks. In all cases, we loved the Honda Civic Si for its true to feel, overall practicality and road thrills.
